DisneyQuest on a windy day

My friends and I went to Downtown Disney to catch the big tethered air balloon they have there to get a great view of the surrounding Disney area. The balloon is called 'Characters-in-Flight' and takes you 400 feet above the Downtown Disney Area, ascending for approximately 8 to 10 minutes to experience a breathtaking, 360–degree view of Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Unfortunately it was apparently too windy at 400 feet (no breeze at all at ground level) so we couldn't ride that day!

Instead we went to check out DisneyQuest - labelled as an indoor interactive theme park, it is really just a massive (5 floors) video game arcade. I loved it, there were lots of simulator rides and 3D immersive games as well as some fun rides based on pinball machines and video games.

They had a really fun pirates ride where one person steered the boat and other people were the crew who fired cannons at passing boats and forts. There was also a 'Jungle Cruise' ride where you all sat in a raft and had to steer down a river to collect things and avoid being eaten by various creatures, including dinosaurs!

They also had a great simulator ride based (loosely) on Space Mountain, where you actually got to design the ride by adding different preset ride elements into the computer. You then got to ride inside a little ball simulator which actually turned upside down when completing any loops that had been added. We added the maximum number of 6 loops, it was a lot of fun!  I also got to play Space Invaders, Frogger and Galaga on proper old machines, which was quite nostalgic, but the most fun was had by all when playing with the massive Guitar Hero machines they had there. Since nearly everything was free once you were inside (and we had gotten a cast discount) we stayed and played for quite a while!

Here at Disney World 'Have a Magical Day' is mostly said by merchandise cast members, so today I will sign off with my most frequently repeated sentence:-

Watch your Step!
